It’s a particular pleasure as the artistic director of frauenkomponiert to commission contemporary works. The orchestral work for this year’s festival was written by Swiss composer Heidi Baader-Nobs with Mariana Doughty as viola soloist. There are some extraordinary and extraordinarily beautiful sounds and harmonies in Evasion, in which no note is extraneous and the architectonic form is expertly shaped.
