World premiere of the Overture to Agnes Tyrrell’s “Die Könige in Israel” (c. 1880)

As part of the Festival frauenkomponiert 2018 in Zurich, Basel and Bern from 7^th–11^th March we will be premiering Agnes Tyrrell’s overture from the oratorio “Die Könige in Israel” (The kings in Israel), written around 1880. To make this possible we have embarked on the first ever edition of the overture. It promises to provide an unforgettable opening to the festival’s major symphony concert. The overture is quite something – as is the fact that the work had to wait 140 years for its premiere.
